Our tips for buying a bike

To make your next bike tour a pleasure, we have put together a few tips to help you find the ideal bike for your needs.

Type of bike:
Firstly, think about what you will mainly be using the bike for. Whether you commute in the city, ride off-road or go on longer tours will have a significant influence on the type of bike you choose.

Frame size:
The right frame size is crucial for comfort and efficiency when cycling. Test different sizes and get advice from our Rent a Bike experts to find the optimal frame size for your body size.

Bike components:
Pay attention to the quality of components such as the rear derailleur, brakes and gears. High-quality parts often mean less maintenance and a longer service life.

Suspension:
If you plan to ride on rough terrain, good suspension is important. Mountain bikes often have a full suspension or hardtail (front suspension only) option, while city bikes usually have no suspension.

Tyres:
The type of tyres influences the handling. Narrow tyres are more efficient on smooth roads, while wider tyres provide more traction on dirt roads.

Brakes:
Decide between disc brakes and rim brakes. Disc brakes often offer better braking performance, especially in wet conditions.

Test ride:
Before you decide, make sure you take a test ride. Pay attention to how the bike rides, how it behaves when cornering and whether it is comfortable.

Value for money:
Consider your budget, but remember that quality and durability are more important than price alone. A higher initial price may pay off in the long run.

Maintenance and repair:
Consider how easy it is to maintain and repair the bike. Simpler designs can reduce maintenance costs.

Local dealer:
Support local bike shops. They often offer better advice, customer service and maintenance support.

Pay attention to the weather forecast:
Plan your rides with the weather forecast in mind. Avoid riding in extremely poor conditions if possible.
We are here for you.
