Day 1 - Herzogenbuchsee
Arrive in Herzogenbuchsee and pick up your tour documentation and two waterproof saddle bags (suitcases stay behind at the hotel). After checking in at the Hotel Kreuz, take advantage of a first ride on the e-bike and explore Herzogenbuchsee with its rural agriculture, its striking village centre and its historic hotels overlooked by stately churches.
Day 2 - Drive Herzogenbuchsee to Solothurn
After a rich breakfast buffet, you will set off in the direction of Solothurn. The route takes you past intensively farmed lowlands along the Wasseramt route (No. 802) via Burgäschi, Subingen and Zuchwil to Solothurn. You reach Solothurn after 17 kilometres or choose the slightly longer route (no. 8 - 30 kilometres) via Berken, Wangen a. Aare, Luterbach with the stage destination Solothurn. Once you arrive in the baroque town, enjoy a tour of the old town with its cobblestone alleys, where there is much to discover.
Day 3 - Trip to St. Peter's Islands
You leave Solothurn behind and follow the Aare for the most part, past the typical expanses and agricultural land of the Seeland towards Biel. There you can optionally change to a boat and enjoy a 2-hour trip on the water or cycle the rest of the route along Lake Biel. At the end of the day, you cycle along the 4-kilometre-long Heideweg to the monastery hotel on the St. Peter's Islands.
Day 4 - Drive back to Herzogenbuchsee
Today, a boat ride back to Biel awaits you, where the last 55-kilometre stage takes you past the rolling hills of the Oberaargau region, through a landscape dominated by agriculture. Finally, follow route 801 from Burgäschisee, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011 thanks to pile dwelling finds, back to Herzogenbuchsee.
